You have my condolences. I should be in medical outpatient/step-down unit, but I mostly work with advanced dementia patients who really should be leaving the floor to nursing homes. But as the older staff mentioned, the last 15 years has made whatever speciality I wanna do there completely irrelevant. Only hospital in an area of 4 towns, half of which are growing rapidly, and it's such a shitshow. Had a bariatric pt die on me after getting covid from the unit. He was on the floor for 8 years. 8 completely fucking unnecessary years.
I wish I had this thread at work to take my mind off things.
