Autism is, by definition, deficient social abilities. That's not just some layman's misunderstanding, that's in the diagnostic criteria ffs. It is entirely reasonable to see a candidate has autism, and conclude that the social deficits make them a poor fit for a role which is going to require lots of interpersonal communication
