Memes aside, I think its just natural for China to support Thailand. Already having trade and good relations helps, but I see the most important factor as the Cambodians' connections with people that want to destroy China. If I were in Xi's position while I would be helping Thailand give them hell in the hope of kicking globohomo out fast, I'd sort of hope it wouldn't be too quick. If the West panics it might force them into a Ukraine situation they are unprepared for, aka a colossal goat fuck with a forgone conclusion when the MIC is already hurting.
