They used to be. Now the constitution only applies to wealthy people. If you have 100k to pay a lawyer to defend those rights, you MIGHT get constitutional protections. But if the judge feels like god he can throw the constitution out the window. Take Judge Fleischer for example. He denied a defendant a public attorney because "he did not work hard enough". 100% illegal. Everyone is supposed to be granted a defense. Regardless of race, color, creed, financial status. But what gets me is this same asshole judge that refused a U.S citizen a public defender, went out of his way many times to protect illegal immigrants from ice... If they got multiple DUIs out the door they went because "They will get deported." If I walked in on my third DUI I know god dam well my WHITE ASSS would be sitting for at least 60 days.
