The girl’s face is covered by shadow. She clenches her jaw for a moment, before forcefully exhaling. “You know what? You’ve convinced me. You’re not the murderers. The real killer wouldn’t be as much of a dumbass.”
Her voice is cold. There’s not a trace of the former panic.
“I can’t believe I ever thought this would be a good idea. I put my own life at risk for this? For two dumbasses who can’t even understand what I’m telling them?” Her breathing quickens. She starts to laugh miserably. “I can’t believe it. I’m gonna die. I’m actually gonna die, for these two idiots who don’t even care about me!”
She laughs until her breath fails her. When she starts speaking again, her voice is dull. “…Alright. Let me spell it out for you two idiots in case it wasn’t crystal clear. I had no obligation to do this. I could’ve let you two waltz around without a clue in the world. If you got killed by the murderer, you wouldn’t have even known to look for it coming. I reached out because I thought that’d be an unfair way to die. I did this, because for some godforsaken reason I thought it was the right thing to do. I gained nothing from this. In fact, all I did was lose. All I did was put myself at risk.” The girl sighs. “…Fuck.”
She kicks at Clover. “Wolf-girl, get off me. Now. I’m done with this. I’m done with all of this. I don’t care anymore. Just let me go. I’ll just die like the dumbass I always was.”
