getting access to hormone therapy takes months. you have to go through evaluations, write essays that invade your privacy worse than a security clearance, get your family involved, like, all of it assumes this has to be final. you have to come out, there's no room to back out halfway if you realize you’re turning into some weird feminine ogre or whatever. should be free and immediate for anyone 18+.
that said, i've never met a trans person who didn't have some other mental health issues going on, or who didn't come off like a coomer with zero self-awareness. not saying that applies to everyone, but man, the overlap is hard to ignore sometimes.
