No. It means the following:
1. imports become completely unaffordable to almost all americunts.
2. the americunt standard of living, such as it is, gets destroyed.
3. boomers/retired with incomes/pensions in USD flee abroad.
4. they put their homes in the US up for sale.
5. this increases the supply of housing and makes it cheaper.
6. this fucks over every financial institution which relies on high and/or climbing real estate asset prices in the US. So anyone holding these as collateral or assets.
7. rate of USD leaving the US slows dramatically decreases because only 1 in 6 USD which americunts spend on imports actually leaves the country.
8. the drop in US demand caused by the massive trade tariffs makes stuff cheaper for anyone living outside of the US.
9. possible relative appreciation of the USD against other currencies outside of the US borders because the rate at which USD created in the US leaves the US to flood the international market/economy decreases markedly (again, only 1 in every 6 dollars americunts spend on imports will actually leave the US anymore).
This 500% trade tariff, which I think is intended to be used against China, will simply fuck average working class americunts who can't work remotely and/or afford to leave the US.
