No, it was the beginning of the end. Critics started going full retard by this era and it was the time it doubled down on the corporate office shit rather than the indie-style of development that was present in the 90s even on an AAA level.
The only thing I liked about it was the "XTREME" aesthetic, but that's only because that aesthetic was present all over the 2000s and 90s, that's the only reason to look fondly on G4, the fact that it was the era of that aesthetic of games in marketing. But that's about it, it's like looking fondly at historical documentaries at the time for that 90s-2000s era style of presentation and aesthetics even though information was presented wrong back then just as much as it is now.
Everything else about it was proto-reddit and lame as fuck.
Also the anti-Japanese shit was the fucking worst and it went hand-in-hand with the dark ages of vidya.

You have to understand that the mindless oversexualization of that era of people doing it for marketing DIRECTLY led to the existence of dogshit like TLOU2. As long as it was the Japanese and small-time talented artists doing it for magazines and their own appeal and shit, it was all good, they drew appealing shit that made both genders admire it (barring the fringe hysterics, of course and of course the very same type of fags that ran G4 and are now ultra-leftist morons). The problem was pic related 90s comic book artists who can't draw anatomy to save their lives and drawing sex slop like this which no sane man would jerk off too.
A lot of millennials saw this shit and began to instead gain the opposite idea that "all sexualization le bad" which directly led to shit like TLOU2 being made.
