Years ago you had a mix of games that appealed to a range of ages and genres. Kids would grow up with fun characters.
They simply don't have that anymore. They abandoned it and astrobot simply isn't a character itself, its a template to copy other characters. Why would any kid want to play a game that only references other games from before their time that you can't even get anymore.
