"Not much remains." You said to your officers and clapped your gauntleted hands together.
The hundreds of feet had turned the wet ground into mud as the wind still continued to blow, sending embers from the pyre through the forest and up into the sky.
"Prince Alric, how much do you believe still remains?" Captain Cromwell asked you.
"The camp was just females, olds and their spawns, their fighters and their chief is still out there somewhere." You replied.
"Even with the warband destroyed?" Major Reginald asked. "I mean, we fought against many gnolls with proper arms and armour."
"You are right Major, but we can't be sure until the chief has been found dead or alive." You replied back. "We have searched the south and west, so they are either…"
"North! That is where the gnoll rabble escaped, we should go after them." Blackmoore bellowed. He had managed to find alcohol and had gotten quickly drunk.
"Thank you Lord Blackmoore for such an apt observation." You replied back to him. "It is plausible that they have fled north, but…"
A horn blew, it wasn't one of your horns. Turning to look at the direction where the sound came, you saw a Stromic soldier running towards you.
"Prince Alric! The gnolls have come!" He shouted and stopped to salute.
More horns blew as your soldiers started to pick up their weapons and stand up. They were sluggish, the days of fighting and marching had finally caught up. The short rest had blown their endurance away. Looking east past your men, at the edge of the half-cleared forest gnolls started to appear. First in singles and then in dozens. They were brandishing blades and wore armour made by both their hands and that of men. And as more gathered, you knew you had to act as well.
>Take the initiative, rally the knights and the cavalry and order them to charge the gnolls immediately.
>The gnolls don't seem to be in a hurry, organise the troops into their regiments to face them in good order.
>You are in a hurry, get the men into a battle line immediately.
>Open the battle with the ballistae, see how the gnolls like getting hit by very angry wooden poles.
>Hold Langston and the Durnholders back as reinforcements and to guard the gnoll prisoners.
>Parlay? Stranger things have worked before.
>Other, write in.
QM: We are so back! Also looks like the tripcodes have changed. Nevertheless the gnolls are here.
