Ideally, you have to keep your team intact to allow you to use your morphs optimally. If you get too close to a hazard and your team gets knocked out for a bit, you won't be able to do much until you recollect them or wait for them to revive on their own. It's small compared to the rest of the game, but there's a small amount of that sort of Pikmin-esque strategy to keep in mind, especially during certain segments.
