People get scared to sign a cell phone contract because it locks them into an agreement for years, but then jump right into a marriage thats far more expensive. People buy bunnies for easter and leave them on the side of the road once they realize how much work it is to look after them. People are incredibly short sighted and shitty. And many HUMANS are just incompatible with each other. What on earth would make you think that an entirely different species is basically honorbound to be your friend/pet for life? For that instance we know there are shitty trainers that abandon their pokemon all the time.
