I got through the third volume of Shishosei some time ago. The story is starting to delve deeper into the reason why the emperor's son was turned into a human wikipedia, the palace intrigue keeps escalating, and some new characters were introduced. I think the strongest aspect of the series continues to be its psychology, and how the different characters are dealing with the sudden "death" of the title character. I'm not quite as excited about the way the series depicts its mystical elements, but it's possible they'll manage to tie it into the backstory in an interesting way, so I'll wait to see how things develop in future volumes. Another thing I do like is that there's some more research into ancient languages and cultures in volume three. The loli caretaker's relationship with the catatonic prince makes for a nice contrast to the rest of the plot, too.
The story does feel like it's lacking a concrete goal for the characters to work towards at the moment, but I think things are going to start ramping up as the different plots by the different characters begin to collide.
