It's not really about morals; it's simply about power. I don't have the cap handy about how leftists operate on humiliation tactics, but it's basically that, although it's not really limited to the left strictly.
Basically, if you have leverage over someone, or if you think you do, then you feel you can dictate to them how to act, think, and feel. For example, my cunt neighbor thinks she can bitch at me whenever she wants.. and she's right, to some degree, because I can't do anything in response, not even really yell back, unless I want the rest of the neighborhood to shun me or, at the most extreme, to be imprisoned or killed.
Now, of course you have cases where someone reaches a breaking point, or where impulsivity wins out over logic and foresight, but even that doesn't really discourage the "moralizing."
