I think it's less the IDF, and more Gaza and Gazans. Give them some credit here, the yang to Israel's yin. The Israelis would describe Gaza as a "nest of fedayeen" back in the 50s/60s:

Actually the problem of Arabs fighting wars is not individual Arabs being unwilling to fight, or being unwilling to sacrifice themselves, it has been more of a problem with their military organizations and systems, lots of Leeroy Jenkins "stick to the plan" issues coupled with lack of initiative, and a praetorian attitude where the military has too much power in politics.
