Air traffic in and out of Israel is pretty limited now so their only escape route is via Cyprus, every neighboring country being hostile to them for reasons that are self-explanatory. If Tel Aviv airport was operational, I'm sure droves of people would be lining up with their 2-3 passports per person and fleeing to USA or Europe, etc.
