Gerson 100% felt like Toby doing his "I'm passing the baton to the next generation" moment. Everything about his speech, from not letting irony poison your work, to encouraging Susie to improve on her skills by actually using them, to encouraging young people to "pick up the pen and create their own stories." It all feels like Toby speaking through the character. No wonder he felt so based.
