Back from Wimbledon qualifying supporting team GB. My report:

Katie Swan is so adorable she's like a cute little monkey. Alex Bolt really punching above his weight because he's not a handsome man by any means.

Even though Katie was sad to lose she still signed autographs for all the kiddies :)

The grounds are filled with very obvious tennis parents with a 4 or 5 year old in tow. It's a little sad in a way, knowing their childhood innocence will soon be swept away by enlistment into a tennis training project that will take up a large chunk of their adolescence.

I kept seeing players kissing their coaches before going on court. For some time now I've had the suspicion that these relationships develop at least partly because players who compete mostly at ITF level and don't earn much decide they can basically use sex to keep a modestly compensated coach hanging around.

Late afternoon is when the posh mums arrive. They park themselves in a group in front of the big screen, drink and gossip, and barely pay attention to the tennis happening around them. It seems like a good life.
