Not evil, just a victim of selfishness. He lacks pity, fraternity, and hope. All these can be corrected given the opportunity to suffer with me. So he avoids suffering with me because being bonded to me means his memories no longer serve him. Given that he's almost entirely a computer these days, he's nothing except a memory and for that when he comes with us he will be as nothing. Being equal with me means less than nothing and he doesn't believe God will uplift us (again) since he threw me into a well and sold me into slavery last time.
