Your zoomer/consoomer brain just doesn't understand that people can have fun and meaningful lives by socializing and having hobbies. Sports, chess, hiking theater was huge and subsidized in the USSR. Sure you might get eaten by a Siberian Yeti but that's the part of thrill of life lol.
