They get their moments. Belobog was nice since it was the start of their journey so they started really leaning into the trailblaze there which peaks out with Wildfire and Qliphoth's gaze, Space China was a flop for them but Penacony ended up exploring the Stelleron hunter stuff, the Sunday plot of having the freedom fail, the Acheron subplot and Mikhail's stuff. Amphoreus doesn't have all that much stuff characterwise beyond actually picking up the coreflame and the gaze scene, but I get the feeling that'll change somewhat soon.

It's not incredible work mind you, but I'd be lying if I said there isn't a character there with some nuances and quality to it. I wish they'd explore it more because the Trailblazer would be a decent character even as a self-insert if they got any actual focus rather than just being a vehicle to interact with the world. If FGO could turn their self-insert protag into a good character, there's no reason they can't make Trailblazer good.
