The Russian Revolutions of 1905-1917 and the subsequent civil war. You would be hard-pressed to find a topic that has been poisoned harder by people with clear historical agendas trying to mislabel, misrepresent, exaggerate, and downplay absolutely everything involved. Butthurt exiled whites/trotskyists/SR's on the one hand, 70 years of Communist revisionism on the other, foreign propaganda, Russian exceptionalism and mystical thinking, etc. all combine to make discussing the revolution impossible.
