It's the opposite, actually. It's a game more focused on hobbyists who want to build their train lines in detail.
You have the normal gameplay part, which is relatively accessible and fun enough in my opinion (I can't play Transport Fever 2, for example, after playing A-Train), but then there's the second layer where you can do things freely, and that's where the hobbyist part comes in.
I don't know if there are any games focused on passenger trains where you can edit timetables in such detail on this scale, and then see the result in a simulated entire year, minute by minute. This part is pure autism and only suitable for those who take these things really seriously.
