We have a pretty (relatively) decent record of Mixtec politics and wars from the Early Postclassic period because there are 8 surviving Mixtec codices/books (arguably more if you think say parts of the Borgia group or some other codices usually considered more "Aztec" are really Mixtec), and many of those 8 detail those things. If you've heard of the Mixtec at all you've probably heard of 8 Deer Jaguar Claw as a famous conqueror with a wild life story, which is really neat (see pic, though this synthesizes competing details from multiple sources, and I know I got some stuff just plain wrong here, EX: Huachino/Red-and-White or Xipe's bundle apparently did NOT have Tilantongo as a subject)

I'm sure there's more I could probably think up to say, especially if we're talking about specific archeological sites or artifacts, but I have other stuff to do and that mostly covers it, I think?

As far as what museums, I don't really have specific suggestions beyond obviously that the Museo Nacional has plenty of stuff, as would the site museums for Mixtec archeological sites, and I know the Museo de las Culturas de Oaxaca in the Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán has a bunch of stuff. Various European museums do as well, like the Museo delle Civilt in Rome has a (probably) Mixtec Atlatl and Turquoise Mosaic mask from the former Pigorini museum, the latter is one of my favorite pieces of Mesoamerican art period

Also, a lesser known site I really like is Casa de la Cacica, which has a relatively pretty well intact early colonial palace that's mostly built in a Prehispanic style, aside from the windows and arched doorways.
