It's in the same boat as Tetris where at the time, Hudson Soft made sure that there was a Bomberman game on practically every contemporary platform in some degree, but it results in so many older entries otherwise being redundant to play in retrospect. Being inconsistent continuity-wise doesn't help either. That's not even getting into Hudson falling into financial distress due to their main bank collapsing in the late 90s.
