This one case makes sense in terms of giving a chance to other characters to do stuff and some stakes. Sentinel resonators are so strong that they are basically unstoppable and are able to solo anything other than a threnodian. Scar couldn't do anything in front of jinny, and they had do lock carthy away in another dimension in order for her not to solve everything by herself.
