I have a certain respect for Mike Rowe despite his boomerisms and the fact that he's never really worked a real job in his life (he's a professional actor).
That being said, the "we need trades NOW" thing is a sad grift. Yes we need trades, but as soon as all the white, able-bodied men learn to be plumber or electricians the government will decide to import a billion jeets to replace them. They'll do this because all these trades command a decent living wage, which will drive up costs and reduce profits for the powers that be. So they'll bring in streetshitters to undercut them and do it for less, putting them out of work. This cycle has already happened once before, in the early 2000s when there were plenty of tradesmen in the industry. Jeets would come in, bid low, large developers wouldn't care because they're just putting out a mass produced shitbox product anyways, and the decent tradesmen were left struggling to pay bills. Many gave it up because it was not profitable and they would end up in serious debt. Market dried up, nothing but jeets now, and people are bitching about how there's no good contractors to hire.
