The core of "useful" people shrinks, and what you call society shrinks with the useful people being at the center and considered "society", while the useless people are left by the side, just like every time new technology has left people behind, this being a gradual process. You didn't notice it because your parents were useful people, you being on the internet meaning that you're either useful now or your parents still are, however once your worth to society disappears, you will be marginalized just like the hobos you pass on the street are, and become invisible because your white collar education is worthless due to AI.
They already have laws and regulations in place to start another pandemic or state of emergency if needed. The previous pandemic was a test run for these systems and to see how many useless people there are and how much of those can not work without severely impacting the well functioning of society.
The useless people will be offered free money in exchange for getting "vaccinated" aka sterilized or killed(death by vaccine) later. The transition occurs over a few years or decades and at the end, the world is much less populated.
