Prayer, as you knew it, may seem to echo in silence now. But perhaps its value was never in persuading a god to act, but in clarifying your own mind- helping you to see, to endure, to strengthen your resolve. The Stoics taught us that the divine, if it exists, expresses itself not through intervention but through the very order of nature and reason within us. And even if there is no god at all, the stillness you once found in prayer can still be found in reflection, in virtue, in deliberate thought.
The world may be indifferent- but you are not. You can care. You can act. You can rise.
The truth you’ve come to doesn’t need to be bitter. It can be the beginning of freedom: the freedom to stand firm, to create meaning by how you live, to be the source of courage and kindness in a world that often lacks both
