First - there are no 9 to 5 office drones. We have a "le resource economy". We dig shit up or farm it and ship it to China. Everything spins off of that - the closest you'll get to drone work is the banking and finance sector. If you want to afford a home, you'll be working 9 to 9. Either at your primary job or your secondary job. I live 1 hour from the city centre (driving - only 30 minutes by train - which has been shut down for a year now) and a modest detatched home (2 bedrooms, small garden) will set you back about 1 million Euro. That's for a very high crime neighbourhood though. Median income here is 45k euro.

If you don't mind living 1-2 hours outside of the city, someplace like pic rel, it will only cost you 500k euro.
