The environments variety wasn't that good, true, but still, there were multiple kinds of "hallways". They could easily add more types and even different biomes. The cool thing was that it was always randomized and not simply same instance, like Delves.
And for the adventure part, doing that big 16 level wing could take few hours and felt like a raid-night for casual player, offered plenty of challenges and even gave you actual sense of power progression because thanks to Torghast orbs you started as your normal character and could finish as immortal demi-god one-shooting final boss. That was actually cool as fuck if you managed to collect powers that synergized in a crazy way. And I guess that was the reason they never added real gear as rewards to Torghast, because of muh balance.
