Frankly, it's surprising to me how "The Brothers Karamazov" turned out to be the most popular Russian book in the latest poll in /lit/. And in principle, if you ask a typical resident of the West or America, then for them the most famous books from Russian authors are the works of Dostoevsky and "War and Peace" with "Anna Karenina" by Tolstoy. I don't know if there are other famous Russian books in the heads of people from the West, maybe the works of Pushkin (there is a film adaptation of Eugene Onegin with Aragorn's wife and Voldemort).
