Did Director rewrite the story so East Thumb would have the weird melee weapon guns midway and then not have time to adjust the VA? Or can they just remove the bayonets (that happen to be attached to the guns barrels instead of under them) and shoot the bullets normally? But if it was the latter surely it would be explained.
