Closing in on 100 games in my library, I definitely do not worship Gaben. I can say though Gabe's leadership of Steam has prevented the PC gaming sphere from becoming a shithole. Especially as a TF2 fan, it sucks Valve doesn't support games anymore, but from a publisher and distributor standpoint what is not to like? They are a private company and do not answer to a board or shareholders so it is not just profit driven. Steam re-invests profits into itself with SteamOS, the Deck, and overall support for users. There is not another company like Valve where the customer is really put first and foremost, and customers money is not sucked from them. I disagree with the gambling aspect of some of Valves games with lootboxes, but even then you can sell your items. Profiting from a game you play? Where else can you get that?
