Saiyajin + jpeg100 is ideal for most artifacts, including mpeg2 mosquito noise, standard jpeg, any kind of macroblocking.

digital film seems to work universally. It upscaled a heavily compressed GITS SAC AMV chaining saiyajin then digital film, and the results looked practically native. Same result with hybrid digital + cel anime (production ig style), and obviously older cel stuff.
