Anon who was doing the themed evolution line guessing game last thread here:
This anon >>534020424 got it right just at the last chance, the theme was indeed Aztec mythology, a friend of mine and I worked on this
>Tlalocmon line
Obviously Tlaloc, god of rain/storms. We already worked on a breakdown of Tlalocmon here docs.google.com/document/d/1Efs7Fpw3AusYTV3DyrVSaGmB10V8NqFy7ZHZxzDw7ww , which notes earlier rain deities that developed into Tlaloc had ties to Jaguars, so Spalshmon Darkness mode as a watery feline is a clear pick. Poyomon and Moonmon worked well as rain droplets work well, but Snowgoburimon and Hyogamon's ice theme and Hyogamon having big fangs like Tlaloc were the least-bad picks we could think of
If anybody has better idea, let me know! We have Baromon as an alt adultsince it has the fanged mask aspect of Tlalocmon, and it's sign move rains meteors like how Tlaloc destroyed his version of the world, but it doesn't lead into Splashmon DM well
>Yihumon Line
Tezcatlipoca, trickster god of fate's fickle nature, sorcery, and jaguars. Tezcatlipoca means "smoking mirror", an allusion to obsidian mirrors emitting omens. Mirrors were also worn as pendants (including by Tezcatlipoca) called Anahuatl which also resembled red and white eye-star glyphs. . Hence, Kuramo and Dracmon with their eye theme, with Negamon and Eyesmon retaining both that also a smokey miasma elemen (eyesmon being a mass of red/white eyes in a dark cloud is outright nearly identical to how the might sky, also a symbol of Tezcatlipoca, was depicted in Aztec art, Shishimamon combines a dark smoke with a feline element, and Yihumon is a yellow feline with a dark smokey ring around it's head.
Honestly this line works so perfectly it's almost suspicious. Note also Shademon, various mirror themed Digimon, and Mercurymon (who seem to be based on Tezcatlipoca, his knife is named "Aztec" which summons spirits like how Aztec mirrors did, and he wears a mirror as a pednant).as alts
