No it hasn't. Its only died post 9/11. Before that in the US people respected cops and criminals feared them. I know here in Australia before the 90s everyone respected cops. But the ((anti-corruption)) reforms drove out all the old school badass coppers. Yeah they took bribes but they knew that the best was to curb crime was to control it. People wouldnt back chat or fight cops because they would get flogged or shot.
