>Humans find a weird warpway tech and find a way to become psykers that allows them to move between worlds and start colonizing new planets
>They meet an empire of hivemind space bugs that try to do the same
>War ensues
>One of the sides decides to use a "Biobomb", shit backfires and humans get forcefully melded with bugs into several different species across almost all worlds. Both are pretty much non existant, pathway to earth is lost, and the hybrids are pretty much a mockery of human culture that look insectoid
>autonomous vehicles called Vangers appear on these worlds, working essentially as delivery boys between the planets and doing all the work for them.
>You are a Vanger
>The entire game is a simulation sent to the past so that (You) help higher forces a plan on how to reach earth. Humanity's fate is never elaborated on.
I am very heavily abridging it, but its a really insane game in terms of worldbuilding that looks like some schizophrenic's dream at first glance. Theres also an RTS sequel called Perimeter, but it ends before the bugs are even become known and is more about a human civil war.
