he was doing fine with the sleet & dingo arc before he started turning them into background jokes again, same for knuckles and sonia as a couple, it feels like hes really grown as a writer since he started working on mlp. he doesn't take his couples purely as gag material anymore (that being said id be lying if i didnt laugh my guts out with the bardonic goodwill episode)
and you could even say the first conclusion of the braeburn arc was shit but he really made up for it with the infection movie, except for not giving care package more screentime since his backstory was legitimately cool.
i hope he drags out this new toxic relationship more since he seems actually pretty good at writing realistically shitty people that strike a chord with you
