It's not about the money
it's about not being able to experience something again that you used to enjoy, or not being able to experience something that many people found enjoyable but you either weren't alive during that time or missed out on it initially, or just gave it time, or you had other things to do, there's plenty of reasons to not be present when something revolutionary releases, and for that "revolutionary" thing to be gone in 5 years is UTTERLY, FUCKING, RETARDED.
Media like video games is not supposed to be finite and the experiences should always be available, not this current FOMO live service shit. A new game in the year 2025 will not replace that other game from 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013 etc. you don't look for the "same experience" when you play games, you don't play Age of Empires when you feel like playing Starcraft, that's not how it works, and it's completely asinine to claim so.

Imagine a world where movies died similarly to video games
>Hey, have you seen Citizen Kane? No? Damn, what a shame, they bricked everyone's copy of the movie and it's no longer sold anywhere.
>Maaan, I remember loving Toy Story 1, maybe I should watch it aga- oh wait, nevermind, Disney pulled the plug on that movie long time ago
>You only paid for the LICENSE to watch Pulp Fiction, you don't actually own your copy of the film, the filmmakers are within their rights to refuse people from seeing their intellectual property!
How are video games magically different?
