Today, the saying "you can't judge a book by its cover" has never been more true. Society and social signals are a mosaic of larps and poseurs. Most have no internally coherent belief systems, they just larp/pose as needed to get along in their environment (appearance is a disguise just to fit in, or as a defense to look more/less threatening - like mimicry and camouflage in the natural world).
If you have integrity and coherent beliefs you assume others do too. This is not usually true. Usually, it's the ones who look fairly plain and unassuming that have the most integrity and strength of conviction. This goes for men and women, rich or poor, any race. Just be wary of those who display too many outwards marks of "tribal belonging." Usually larping, no true beliefs. Though there are exceptions such as the case cited above of the based goth girl. It's a dangerous world; go back to instinct.
