Another Jenrick skeleton
>There’s three different immigration problems for Tories and they fail two:
>- Legal immigration (practically no opposition)
>- Illegal immigration (bullish on the boats to distract from above)
>- Jingoistic immigration of “our allies” (enthusiastic support without apology)
>They are only allowed to shout about the dinghies, as they’re forbidden to attack Legal Immigration and Jingoistic Immigration, which are propped up by the City of London and the military establishment respectively.
>Another example of 'Jingoistic Immigration':
>"...provide them with housing, with the benefit system standing behind them, with all the support the state can offer" - Robert Jenrick on the Hong Kong scheme, 2021.
>I think part of the reason that immigration has continued increasing, in spite of general opposition to it, is that almost everyone has a group of immigrants they’d be willing to scab for, thereby harming any ground a coalition could make towards forwarding that end
>Jenrick's Hong Kongers. Ellwood's Afghans. Tugendhat's Ukrainians. Farage's Sri Lankans. Johnson's Ugandan-Asians. Bob Blackman's Indians. The list is endless.
The Tories really were truly terrible
