One part of my gigatheory I want to expand on is Kris' involvement in the big plan: I think they gave up their soul at the start of the game on purpose, specifically to house (You). I think the Dess revival gang knew about us arriving and intercepted us to keep us out of our vessel, I really think reigning in our autonomy and keeping us under their supervision is a big element of their plan. By ripping out their soul and putting us in its place I think Kris is acting as our tard wrangler to we can't color outside the lines too much and go places we aren't supposed to, just like keeping us away from Dess' guitar. That's why when the narrator changes from (presumably) Gaster in the intro to (who I assume is) Carol, she makes a point to say that your choices were discarded and that your name is now "Kris." I would go further and say that the Snowgrave route goes completely out of bounds of their plans and is the path you're taking to get your autonomy back. I don't think Carol knows about it at all and the reason Kris gets so angry about it (besides emotionally torturing their friend) is that you're fucking up their plan to bring back Dess by breaking free of their control.
