It visually looks cool, but Konami are too much of cowards to simply rule that they have no Rank.
Konami being cowards is one of the biggest reasons why Yugioh can suck ass at times. Cool things could be added to the game but the rules engine and design space is so rigid in what is or isn't allowed that its near impossible to innovate and do cool things.
Games like MTG and CFV can literally just make up brand new mechanics and zones and shit midway through a set, dump the rules into a big-ass rulebook and start printing.
Yugioh only ever attempts to maybe make up a new mechanic if the stars align and we are approaching the beginning of a new series and a new anime is allowing the shilling of said new mechanic.
You can't just one day decide that Counters can be placed on players for example, because That's Not How Yu-Gi-Oh! Works!. You can't just write something like "This card begins the Duel in the Extra Deck." on a monster because That's Not How Yu-Gi-Oh! Works!. You can't make a card only function if your deck is singleton because That's Not How Yu-Gi-Oh! Works!.
So design ends up with janky workarounds. Orbital Hydralander is an example of that last example, because its a card with a name based on highlander formats from other games (where each card can only be played at 1 copy each), but since you aren't allowed to check your deck for that condition because That's Not How Yu-Gi-Oh! Works! then instead it performs a series of conditions which are EASIER to do in a highlander deck, but ultimately achievable in decks its not actually designed for, and requires a lot more set-up to achieve than what would be possible by simply checking.
