PrEP stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis. It's a prescription medication that prevents you from catching HIV.
There are three different formulations that I know of--Truvada and Descovy are daily oral pills. Apretude is a long-term injection you can take instead, once every other month. Which one you should take is a question for your doctor, but even if you're a top, pretty much any guy engaging in casual or non-monogamous gay sex should be on some form of PrEP.
There's also something called PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) that you can take within 72 hours (the earlier the better) of possible HIV exposure. I don't think it's as effective as PrEP, but it's better than nothing if you got into a spontaneous hookup and got bred unexpectedly.
