Step3 is a grind due to all the P runs you have to do (50 pts a run?), but here's the tale of Sumika so far up to affection level 22.
Some time after NIA, Sumika takes part in a dance-focused HIF selection and is shocked that she actually lost. Tsubame comes up and asks why she's surprised, as the amount of time spent working on idoling is different between them (Tsubame's a 3rd year if you didn't know). She says that Sumika's current abilities are not enough for HIF yet and that she should keep working at it. Sumika knew Tsubame was strong, but was still surprised to have lost in dancing skills, as she doesn't know what else she has apart from that.
Sumika then asks P for more dancing lessons to improve. He says that her skills are already in the top level among the students and that it would be better to focus on her vocal and visual training for balance as an idol. Sumika persists, making P say that she faced the number 2 idol at school after all and it shouldn't have been that much of a surprise. She admits that she thought her dancing was enough for HIF until Tsubame taught her a lesson.
P responds that her ballet skills and experience don't directly translate into idoling and that her dancing isn't a match for the No.2 yet. But idoling is more than just dancing and she has plenty of growth potential in other stats. Polishing her already top-tier dancing further would have lower growth (90 to 95), but P comes to the conclusion to do it after all to crush that annoying Tsubame and prove that Sumika's dancing is befitting of a Top Idol. Sumika is a little taken aback and asks if he got angry at Tsubame.
And so they go to the training room to remediate one of the weaknesses in her dancing, which is a large imbalance between her leg muscles due to her past injury and having kept weight off of it (with crutches initially and unconsciously doing it after enrolling).
So thus begins Sumika's great exercise arc, which she hates.
