Alola is Hawaii which is mostly White and Asian. Polynesians exist in Hawaii but I doubt if they're even a plurality, without checking offhand, because Hawaii has been a waystation for Pacific commerce and an American naval base for a long time. All of the other regions portrayed have been the homelands of White and Asian people (yes America is a White country, or at least was until recently) so I'd expect them to have casts of mostly light-skinned characters.
I'd be really interested to see a Pokemon game set in a Levantine country or Iran, or in Latin America. Not just because uoh brown girl but because I do think those areas of the world are interesting. inb4 they do Argentina or Uruguay
I don't think you should hate yourself for being nonwhite. People like how white people look but that doesn't mean that they can't like how you look. I'll fully admit there's an exoticism thing going on when I like dark-skinned girls but that doesn't mean that they're not pretty or that they're playing second fiddle to a white girl. It's a two cakes kind of thing, as crass as that analogy is. It's not good to look down on yourself like that; I'm sure you can find someone to love you, but part of doing that is recognizing your own positive points.
