our IRL ancestors won that battle by being spearchuckers with shoulder joints much better optimized for throwing

actually its kind of annoying how shitty spears are despite their importance. you literally can't even play as a tribal spearchucker either, you have to use bows since the only thrown spear is a Pila which is locked behind Smithing and can only be crafted at an electric or fueled Smithy at which point you might as well just have full plate armor and a mace/breaching axe/longsword. And regular spears require Long Blades research which is even deeper in the tech tree than regular Smithing.....
