A dog saved its owner's life on June 17 during a strike on a high-rise building in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv.

This was shared on social media by the injured young man’s grandmother, Kateryna Lysova, in the Facebook group “Country of Animal Help.”

During the massive attack on Kyiv, her grandson Oleksii was on the first floor of a high-rise building together with his dog, Richard. The four-legged friend got scared by the loud explosions and ran off — Oleksii ran after him.

Some time later, Kateryna shared that Richy had been found. She wrote:

"People, you are incredible! Thanks to you, our little hero, the guardian angel of my Oleksii, has been found. The post about our dog, which someone called in the comments 'Richard with a little Lionheart,' was seen by almost all of Ukraine. Thousands of comments, millions of shares – and finally, a positive result!

Volodymyr, the man who found the dog, said: 'There are so many people in our warehouse, everyone helps animals when we find them. When they brought this dog from the nearby village, we all thought he wouldn’t survive. He was frightened, shaking. We realized he was hungry. We ran to get food for him…'

Richy immediately recognized his “dad,” barked with joy, and jumped into his loving arms. Within seconds, he was being held and hugged."
