sam hates actors, that's it, that's the joke. He "hates" "fakeness" and actors have to be personable, agreeable, and easy to work with in order to have a career, all things that are anathema to Sam. He thinks anyone can do what they do despite being an atrocious actor himself, because Eric Hayden can play an angry businessman without any formal training. This gives him the right to hire them as contractors and verbally abuse them because he has no idea how to be funny outside of being extremely mean to people he knows won't fight back. He's just a self-loathing trust fund artsy kid, there's nothing more to it.
